Dr. Broderick C. Bello, MD, a respected family physician in Nashville, North Carolina, has passed away. He was affiliated with UNC Health Nash and dedicated more than three decades to the practice of medicine, serving generations of families with skill, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
Dr. Bello was widely known as a trusted primary care doctor who took a genuine interest in both the physical and emotional well-being of his patients. Many in the community spoke of the long-lasting relationships he built over the years, praising his warm, approachable manner, his willingness to listen, and his ability to clearly explain medical conditions and treatment options. Patients also appreciated the efficiency of his practice, often noting short wait times and the thoughtful attention he gave during every visit.
His medical interests covered the full scope of family practice, with particular focus on obstetrics, geriatrics, and minor procedures. He was board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, and his internship at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Bello was deeply involved in education and leadership. He served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine and as a Nurse Practitioner student preceptor for Duke University. He was also a medical director for several long-term and rehabilitative care facilities, including Autumn Care Nashville Nursing Home, Nash-Rocky Mount Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Community Home Care & Hospice.
Dr. Bello was an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the American Medical Director Association, reflecting his lifelong dedication to advancing patient care and professional excellence.
His passing leaves a significant void in the Nashville, NC community and among the many patients, colleagues, and students whose lives he touched through his work and kindness.
